State Trustees announcement reinforces Bendigo's regional financial services credentials
The Bendigo Business Council said today that the announcement of a new regional office for State Trustees reinforced Bendigo's credentials as a regional financial services centre of excellence.
Bendigo Business Council executive officer Kevin de Vries said "Today's announcement by Premier Brumby is tremendous news for Bendigo and will strengthen its already extensive professional services sector."
"Bendigo is developing into Australia's regional financial services capital." Mr de Vries said. "We have the head offices of the Bendigo Bank and Rural Finance located here, and each of the four major banks and MECU has a significant presence in Bendigo, serving the surrounding region. The city has many strong businesses in the tax, accounting and legal industries as well as the expertise of the Regional School of Business at La Trobe University."
"The State Trustees office will complement Bendigo's existing suite of financial services perfectly. It will provide further career opportunities for local graduates and I know that the Bendigo community will be delighted to welcome those workers who choose to relocate to enjoy the fabulous Bendigo lifestyle."
Mr de Vries said that Bendigo's central location and excellent connections made it an ideal base from which to provide services across Victoria. "Many professional service providers make extensive use of technology to deliver their services; this makes the sector ideal for locating in a regional area such as central Victoria. When you consider the excellent connections to Melbourne by road and rail it is no wonder that the Bendigo business community is growing so strongly."
"The BBC applauds Premier Brumby, Treasurer Lenders and Minister Allan for today's announcement. We look forward to welcoming the people from the State Trustees office into our business community."
